A Tale of Talent, Opportunity and Global Fame: How Mantra Tanzania Backed Mwengelemtwa’s Musical Journey

From The Humble Street Of Ihefu To Belarus

Life can change in a single moment. For Amani Mario Mwengelemtwa, that moment came when a passion for music and dancing opened a door he had never imagined, taking him from the humble streets of Ihefu in Mufindi District, Mbeya, to an international stage in Russia and Belarus.

After completing secondary school in 2023, Mwengelemtwa devoted himself to developing his talent. But the turning point came when Mantra Tanzania Limited visited his school and introduced students to the Nuclear Kids Project, an international creative initiative organised by Russia’s Rosatom.

His school selected Mwengelemtwa to represent Tanzania, a decision that left the young talent overwhelmed with excitement.

“I was very shocked and amazed. I could not even eat because I kept wondering how such an unexpected opportunity had come my way,” he recalled,”.

Soon, the dream became reality. Mwengelemtwa travelled to Belarus to join talented young performers from different countries for weeks of music, dance, acting and cultural exchange.

His most memorable moment came during the Evening Delegation, where participants showcased their cultures through music, dance and acting. When he began dancing, the audience put aside their phones, stood up and cheered, clapping until he returned to his seat.

Another unforgettable moment came during the 2025 Farewell Party. Before he could even reach the stage, the crowd began chanting his name, “Amani! Amani! Amani!”, a powerful reminder of how deeply he had connected with fellow participants during their six weeks together.

Beyond performance, the project broadened his outlook. He made friends from different countries, learned to respect and embrace people from diverse backgrounds, and gained new acting and dancing skills under the guidance of Project Production Director Nedolekhko Maxim.

He also proudly became a cultural ambassador for Tanzania, telling fellow participants about Tanzanite, Zanzibar, wildlife and the country’s peaceful coexistence.

His joy doubled when Head Project Manager, Ms Anna Trapeznikova, showed him a ring made from Tanzanian Tanzanite.

The experience also changed how he viewed his future

“I am proud of this journey because it changed my mindset and the way I look at life. I now have a clearer understanding of the future I want to build,” he said.

Mwengelemtwa credits Mantra Tanzania for giving him an opportunity that transformed his talent into an international experience.

He urges the company to continue supporting young Tanzanian talents and creating opportunities for them to study and develop their skills in Russia and Belarus.

For Tanzanian youth, his message is simple: nurture the talent within you, overcome fear and shyness, work hard and never give up.

His own dream now stretches further. He hopes to pursue university studies in Belarus or Russia and, one day, work with Mantra Tanzania to help other young Tanzanians discover and develop their talents.

From Ihefu to the international stage, Mwengelemtwa’s journey is a reminder that sometimes, a single opportunity is all it takes for hidden talent to step into the global spotlight.
