Zanzibar, Seychelles, and Tokyo: This is the new alternative for Israeli travelers

Tourists from Israel are now slowly but surely choosing adventures in Zanzibar Islands, above other global destinations.

Seychelles, another Indian Ocean Island, comes second while the world’s earliest rising archipelago, Japan taken the third position.

Islands in the stream?

Reports from travel agents and airline representatives in Tel-Aviv City, indicate that there is a growing interest of visitors from Israel choosing Zanzibar among their top African destinations.

As Africa’s leading carrier, the Ethiopian Airlines continues to expand its operations in Israel and offering Middle Eastern travelers’ convenient access to more than 150 destinations worldwide, Zanzibar is ranked high as the destination of choice for the planes to connect to from the airline’s main hub in Addis Ababa.

The airline operates regular flights from Tel Aviv to the Ethiopian capital, which serves as a hub with short connection times and infrastructure that enables a smooth onward journey to destinations in Africa, Asia, South America, and even selected locations in Europe.

According to The Jerusalem Post, among the popular onward destinations reachable via Addis Ababa are Zanzibar, Cape Town, Seychelles, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, Bangkok, Delhi, Mumbai, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires.

Zanzibar is mostly preferred for the Island’s expanse beaches, soft sand, clear Indian Ocean waters and of course historical locations.

Nowadays tourists also can combine Zanzibar tours with game safaris on the mainland Tanzania through daily flights between the two destinations.

Apart from thee Isles, some of these other destinations offer an attractive alternative to more well-known and expensive locations, especially during peak seasons.

According to Ilan Bar Moshe, Vice President of the Tal Aviation Group, which represents Ethiopian Airlines in Israel, the airline’s main advantage lies in the combination of an extensive network of destinations, efficient connection times, and competitive prices.

He notes that during periods of high demand for destinations in Europe and the Far East, many travelers look for alternative solutions.

“More and more travelers today are looking for smart alternatives—desirable destinations with less crowding and at a more affordable price, and Ethiopian Airlines provides exactly that,” he said.

The airline’s fleet is considered one of the youngest and most advanced in the world and includes, among others, Dreamliner and Airbus A350 aircraft, contributing to a comfortable flight experience even on long-haul journeys.
