The Government of Tanzania has announced changes to the dates of some national examinations and tests in 2026 to ensure the safety of candidates during the period expected to experience El Niño rains.
According to Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Ms. Wanu Hafidh Ameir, the Government continues to take measures to ensure that the weather does not affect the conduct of examinations or the safety of students.
As per the announced rearrangement of the examination schedule, the Form Two National Examination will begin on October 12 and end on November 6, 2026, while the Fourth Form Examination will begin on October 19 and end on November 6 this year.
Executive Secretary of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), Prof. Said Mohammed, has asked school principals to inform candidates about the schedule and the changes that have taken place, while parents and guardians are required to ensure that students, especially those from day schools, arrive at examination centres on time.
“The examination committees should make adequate preparations, including ensuring that the centres have a safe environment and that candidates arrive on time. NECTA will continue to issue instructions according to the weather, especially as the examination period approaches,” said Prof. Mohammed.
