
THE Tanzania bamboo value addition sector is at a transformational moment following the entry of a new player that is now giving the sector its deserved status.
The environmentally focused stakeholder company, the Magoda Bamboo Company, has been introduced to manufacture diverse furnitures products using of the bamboo, a vital innovation aimed at shifting the country’s furniture – hatching sector from wood to the enviromentally friendly tall green plant that belongs to the grass family.

At the Nanenane Agricultural Show, the Company attracted dozens of citizens to its pavillion, who marvelled at the high- qjality bamboo furnitures that had been well designed and developed by the company.
In the frontline list of the furnitures enthusiasts who crowded the pavilion were the owners of hotels, restaurants and other public services provider companies, seeking to decorate their business hotspot with eye- catching furnitures.
Mr Robert Mhando, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) with company, said the establishment has already managed to attract an impressive number of customers in Dar es Salaam, and received some orders from outside the country.
“Our furnitures is of high quality with durability guarantee, and are looks very smart and simple,” he said.
Apart from producing the latest – designed furniture, he communicate that the initiative targets to supplementing the government’s efforts to fight against deforestation, as well as cementing general enviromental conservation in Tanzania.
He voiced over the importance of ensuring for larger -scale growing of bamboo in order to support the sustainability of the business, which is currently pushing its lucrative entry into the Tanzania’s furnifucture manufacturing industry.
“We’re envisioning expanding the scope of our service into the real estate sector, a development that requires abundant production and supply of bamboo,” he noted.

Currently, he said the company was getting its raw materials from the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS)‘s Amani Nature Reserve in Tanga.
“To ensure the sustainability of this sector, it is prudent for the government to invest in larger – scale production of the green plant in partnership with the private sector,” he urged.
However, he informed that the company mulls engaging out -growers to ensure an adequate supply of its key raw materials.
Magoda Bamboo Company Ltd is among the emerging pioneers in Tanzania bamboo value chain, focusing on the cultivation, processing, and manufacturing of bamboo- based products.
The company promotes bamboo as a renewable resource capable of reducing deforestation and enviromental degradation. Unlike hardwood trees which can mature within 3 to 4 years, making it one of the most sustainable raw materials for manufacturing.
