
At least 1,591,064 pupils across Tanzania have qualified, and being registered to sit for the Standard Four National Assessment.
The vital examinations have been drafted to commence from October 5 to 6, 2026.
Out of the candidates, with boys accounting for 764,284, equivalent to 48 per cent, while girls number 826,780, representing 51.9 per cent.
The Executive Secretary of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), Professor Said Mohamed, the assessment is important in determining the level at which pupils have mastered various basic skills.
He noted, the exams will help establish pupils’ proficiency in reading, writing, using the English language, numeracy and competency in compulsory subjects, including Kiswahili.
In the same vein, a total of 1,827,367 pupils are expected to sit for the Standard Two National Assessment, scheduled to be conducted from October 7 to 8, 2026.
Of the registered pupils, 906,545 are boys, equivalent to 49.6 per cent, while 920,822 are girls, representing 50.4 per cent.
For Form Two, a total of 794,713 students have been registered to sit for the assessment this year, comprising 786,163 school candidates and 8,550 private candidates.
Of this number, 781,127 students will sit for the assessment under the General Education stream, while 5,036 will take the Vocational Education stream, which was introduced for assessment in 2025 in line with the Education and Training Policy.
In addition, 1,162 candidates with special needs have been registered, including 939 with low vision, 78 who are blind, 56 with hearing impairment, 13 with intellectual disabilities and 76 with physical disabilities.
The Form Two National Assessment will be conducted from October 12 to 23, 2026.
