Mombasa Air Safaris deploys the first Dash 8 aircraft to link the oceanic beaches to the upcountry bushes
Kenya’s Mombasa Air Safari inducts first Dash 8
Mombasa Air Safari is currently knitting its own flag as far as tourism safaris connecting beach destinations to upcountry wilderness.
Mombasa Air Safari’s first DHC-8-100, 5Y-MJC (MSN 341), has begun commercial services, flying between Nairobi Wilson Airport and the Masai Mara National Reserve, a conservancy which adjoins the great Serengeti.
The flights also provide connecting additional coastal services to Ukunda, Mombasa, and Malindi, at according to the latest updates from the ch-aviation research.
The Kenyan safari specialist had taken delivery of the aircraft back in September 2025.
That was after purchasing the plane outright from Avmax Aircraft Leasing, with plans for a second of the type in the near future.
The ADS-B data shows that the 32.8-year-old aircraft relocated from Mombasa to Nairobi Wilson on December 19, 2025.
It was deployed from Nairobi City to the Maasai Mara National Reserve on Boxing Day of December 26, 2025.
The aircraft would then connect Maasai Mara Keekorok, and Ukunda to Diani Beach on the Kenyan Indian Ocean coastline.
Mombasa Air Safaris now gets to serve the Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Maasai Mara Angama, Maasai Mara North, and Ol Kiombo.
As far as the management is concerned, the aim of the introduction of the Dash 8 is to enhance passenger comfort, as the airline has long relied on its fleet of eleven Cessna (single turboprop) 208 Grand Caravans for short, unpaved runways.
At least one more of the DHC-8-100 aircraft type is planned in the near future to achieve the necessary economies of scale.
