Mufindi Investment Forum And Expo 2026 Set To Transform District Into A Potential Economic Hub For Tanzania

Iringa, a region characterised by a warm-summer Mediterranean climate (Csb) and subtropical highland climates, is mapped in the southern highlands of south-central Tanzania and is endowed with numerous promising economic opportunities, most of which remain largely untapped.

Through its ongoing nationwide strategy to strengthen Tanzania’s economy under Development Vision 2050, the government is working to identify, promote and ensure the effective utilisation of the country’s available economic potential.

Iringa Region has now joined this strategic drive, with the government working to promote investment opportunities and stimulate economic development across the region.

Dubbed the “Mufindi Investment Forum and Expo 2026,” the initiative was launched to run from October 16 to 20 this year in Mufindi District, Iringa Region, with the aim of promoting investment opportunities and stimulating economic development.

Speaking during the launch, the Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Dr Pius Chaya, said the exhibition is expected to serve as an important platform for bringing together investors, businesspeople and development stakeholders to identify and tap into opportunities available in the district, expand economic activities and add value to local resources.

The investment opportunities being promoted through the exhibition cover various sectors, including agriculture, industry, tourism and trade, all of which have the potential to expand production, increase residents’ incomes and strengthen Mufindi’s economy.

Earlier, Mufindi District Commissioner Dr Linda Salekwa said the exhibition was an important platform for promoting the district to investors while raising public awareness of the available opportunities and how residents could utilise them to improve their livelihoods.

She said the platform also provides various stakeholders with an opportunity to showcase their products and services, exchange experiences and establish relationships that could open doors to business partnerships and investment.

Some of the stakeholders participating in the exhibition have expressed satisfaction with the opportunities it offers, thanking the government for organising the platform. They said it had the potential to increase the visibility of their businesses and connect them with other economic stakeholders.

The exhibition will run until October 20, 2026, providing residents, businesspeople and investors with an opportunity to explore Mufindi’s economic potential and discuss ways of transforming it into productive investments that will benefit the district.
