TASAC Adopts Cloud-Connected Maritime Transport Regulatory System (MTRS) To Bolster Customer Service Delivery
The Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) has adopted the Maritime Transport Regulatory System (MTRS), a tailor-made digital platform designed to simplify, accelerate and enhance the efficiency of regulatory service delivery in the country’s maritime transport sector.
Moreover, the state-owned maritime agency is considering introducing the issuance of certificates through a cloud-connected system, aiming to improve the delivery of its key services to customers while moving away from paper-based processes.
The significant development in Tanzania’s maritime sector was unveiled recently by TASAC Director General, Mr Mohamed Salum, during his remarks at the Customer Service Week celebrations.
Speaking at a special forum with the Agency’s stakeholders, Mr Salum said TASAC was implementing a programme aimed at digitising service delivery across its various operational levels.
“Quality service delivery is paramount to building customer trust, strengthening mutual cooperation with stakeholders, and enhancing efficiency in Tanzania’s maritime transport sector,” he said.
During the event, Mr Salum, who also serves as Tanzania’s Registrar of Seafarers, took the opportunity to register seafarers and issue certificates to those who met the required criteria, as part of efforts to ensure that essential services are delivered promptly and efficiently.
Addressing the seafarers, he emphasised the importance of improving services related to their safety, welfare and professional development, while urging them to perform their duties professionally and adhere to established safety standards.
This year’s Customer Service Week was held under the theme “The Extra Mile.” Mr Salum used the occasion to reaffirm TASAC’s commitment to continuously improving services for customers and stakeholders by leveraging technology, upgrading systems and ensuring that their needs are taken into account in the execution of the Authority’s responsibilities.
In observing this year’s Customer Service Week, TASAC engaged with various groups served by the Agency, including seafarers, students and staff of the Dar es Salaam Maritime Training Academy (DMTA), as well as TASAC employees.
